Dipl.-Theol. Studied Catholic theology and church history in Freiburg im Breisgau and Rome/Vatican City. From 1987 to 2002, he worked in the international division of Deutsche Bank AG in Freiburg im Breisgau and Frankfurt am Main. He speaks fluent English, French and Italian and has a basic knowledge of Spanish.
A collector since the early 1970s, he has also been involved in phaleristics (the study of orders of knighthood) since 1984 and is the author of numerous specialist articles and publications on German and foreign orders of knighthood and orders of merit, decorations and medals of merit. A dealer since 1987, he has also been active as an expert in this field for several German and foreign auction houses since the early 1990s, including SINCONA in Zurich since its foundation and, prior to that, UBS in Zurich and Basel.
